Programming Internship: Fall 2024

Programming Interns will gain leadership skills, political knowledge, and networking connections through hosting educational events on campus and directing our current events podcast "In Session." As a Programming Intern, you will play a key role in organizing and executing events that promote the journal and engage the community. Your responsibilities will include planning and coordinating events such as guest lectures, panel discussions, and workshops. You will work closely with the journal's leadership team to develop innovative programming ideas that align with our mission, handle logistics, and manage communications with speakers and participants. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about policy and economics, enjoys event planning, and is eager to help shape the journal's presence on campus and beyond. If you are detail-oriented, creative, and enthusiastic about creating impactful events, we encourage you to apply. 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in weekly meetings with supervisors and the programming team to discuss progress, brainstorm ideas, and coordinate efforts.

  • Conduct research on policy, political economy, and legal topics to support event organization, prepare for podcast interviews, and enhance programming content.

  • Plan and coordinate events, including the development of event concepts, agendas, and schedules.

  • Manage logistical details, such as coordinating with speakers and guests, arranging venues, and providing overall administrative support.

  • Build and maintain relationships with students, faculty, and external stakeholders to create a strong, engaged community around the journal's activities and events.

Necessary Qualities & Experience 

  • Strong background or deep interest in policy analysis and research.

  • Excellent interviewing and communication skills.

  • A genuine passion for politics and policy.

  • Previous experience in event planning.

  • Strong writing skills, an open-minded approach, excellent organizational abilities, and a collaborative mindset are also essential qualities we value.
